James Morehead is the City of Dublin Poet Laureate and author of “canvas“, and a member of the American Academy of Poets.

The most important artists I’ve drawn inspiration from are my parents (both musicians) – Philip Morehead and Patricia Morehead. My mother has set two of my poems to music (“music for an abandoned warehouse” and “portraits of red and grey – #15“).

I’m inspired by the poems and performances of poets Olivia Gatwood, Billy Collins, A.E. Stallings and ee. cummings.

And my wife Mary is an extraordinary editor, always providing honest and actionable feedback – the best kind.

Away! away! for I will fly to thee,
Not charioted by Bacchus and his pards,
But on the viewless wings of Poesy

From “Ode To A Nightingale” by John Keats
