Rain
by James Morehead
calm
the back row corner seat
dreary lecture inside
heavy
slow spoken words
that creep towards
but never reach
my drooping head
outside
through white-framed glistening windows
morning drizzle
falls in smooth gray blankets
tempting me to sleep
strange
the blackboard chalk dust
moist air
off white walls
a teacher's voice
distant
melt into deep inviting sheets
