long distance frustration
over black shredded cables
under
roosting crows
                        and acrobatic squirrels
through sleepy towns
                                  and sunken tunnels
past light years of space
                                       and spinning satellites

only to be cut off in mid-
                                      sentence
while awaiting her answer
but
even worse
before hanging-up
                             lost in that hmmm of silence
a tell-tale click
as a hidden recorder
                                  stops
